Responsibilities:
- Reviews prescription orders for appropriateness of dosage, route, interval, schedule, and duration for each individual patient.
- Identifies possible adverse drug reactions, drug-drug, drug-food or drug-allergy interactions.
- Intervenes appropriately by direct communication with Physician when necessary.
- Prepares, checks, and dispenses medications; extemporaneous and sterile medication preparations.
- Assures compliance with adverse drug reaction reporting system and medication error reporting system.
- Provides drug education and counsels patients on appropriate drug usage.
- Provides educational presentations to Pharmacy Department Staff and other health care professionals.
- Performs inspections of patient care areas, discusses problems with the appropriate nursing staffs and recommend solutions.
- Utilizes the computer system to effectively process and dispenses medication orders and prescriptions.
- Provides supervision to new staff Pharmacists and technicians.
- Participates in stock control programs (inventory & monitoring usage) as required.
- Works with other Pharmacists utilizing team approach concepts.
- Attends departmental continuing education programs.
- Applies departmental and intradepartmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other assignments as required by Direct Supervisor and Pharmacy Manager.
Qualifications:
Education/ Licensure:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, or elsewhere.
- Valid registration from Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
Required:
- minimum 2 Years Experience.
- Saudi nationals only.
- Good command of written and oral English.
- Thorough knowledge of medical department policies and procedures and of medical ethics.
- Must have the ability to adjust to a group practice.
- Must be able to work with a positive attitude with colleagues of varying training backgrounds.
- Capable of seeking solutions.
