About the Ministry
The Ministry of Energy oversees all aspects and activities related to the energy sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through a comprehensive national energy strategy. This strategy is centered on maximizing the added value to the national economy in a sustainable and highly efficient manner.
It includes strategies for the hydrocarbon sector (oil, gas, refined products, and petrochemicals), as well as strategies for the electricity and renewable energy sector, including thermal resources and complementary energy sources.
The Ministry is implementing various programs to achieve its goals, focusing on innovation, technology, and artificial intelligence in the energy sector.
Key initiatives include:
The Sustainability of Hydrocarbon Demand Program, which encompasses plans for the Kingdom to become the world’s largest exporter of clean hydrogen—both blue hydrogen from hydrocarbon sources and green hydrogen from renewable sources.
The Optimal Energy Mix Program, which aims to produce electricity at the highest efficiency and lowest cost.
